HMI Configuration & System Building
Process Control DCS Specialists may be responsible for configuring HMIs, building, and configuring system servers, configuring communication protocols, troubleshooting issues related to HMIs and system servers, and developing and maintaining documentation related to these tasks. By performing these tasks effectively, they help to ensure that control systems are properly configured, maintained, and operated, and that industrial processes can continue to operate safely and efficiently.
Process Control DCS Specialists may also be responsible for building and configuring system servers for control systems. This may involve installing and configuring operating systems, applications, and other software components, and ensuring that system servers are properly integrated with other control system components.
If an HMI or system server experiences an issue, it will be up to Process Control DCS Specialists to diagnose and troubleshoot the problem. This may involve working with other Specialists, operators, or technicians to identify the root cause of the issue and develop a solution.
Control systems often require communication between different components, such as PLCs, HMIs, and system servers. Process Control DCS Specialists may be responsible for configuring communication protocols to ensure that data is transmitted accurately and securely between these components.
Process Control DCS Specialists may be responsible for developing and maintaining documentation related to HMI configuration and system server building. This may include documentation on configuration settings, troubleshooting procedures, and other important information that is necessary to maintain and operate control systems.
Process Control DCS Specialists may be responsible for configuring Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for control systems. This may involve designing and developing custom HMI screens, configuring HMI alarms, trends, and reports, and integrating HMI systems with other control system components.
